Does anyone recognise this location name on the Lost Card.
I hope that some recognise the first en also the last location name. Maybe it's a English coast town like. I have searched in Google etc. but I found nothing that looks like "Kambovo" are "Hambovo". Are it’s a very bad righting of "Home base".
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Does anyone recognise this location name on the Lost Card.
I would suggest it is Hamboro, maybe short for Hamborough (which an Englishman would pronounce as Hamboro). I bellieve there is a neighbourhood in London called Hamborough, but maybe someone from the UK has more info.

Re: Does anyone recognise this location name on the Lost Card.
Mystex,
Given the other names and locations (Berlin, N. of Texel (the Dutch island) and Mando (the little Danish island?), would Hamburg be too far off? What crew and/or crew does the loss card refer to? This would give us a better chance to weigh the options. Regards, Leendert |

Re: Does anyone recognise this location name on the Lost Card.
Indeed Leendert.
This is a piece of the, in de night of 29/30 March 1943, Halifax DT563 of 76 squadron lost card. Home base: Linton-on-Ouse. I think the place must be in the region of East Ridng of Yorkshire/ Yorkshire. Or maybe a code name of a beacon. But I thought that the most bombers who took of in this region go over Bridlington/Flamborough. |

There's a Hambrough on the Isle of Wight but that would be way off track. |
