107 squadron Blenheim T1928 ditched Great Yarmouth 23/11/1940

L.S.,

In order to combine a few things I am interested to learn when (time) the plane ditched and as much as possible further data as to why (reason) and what happened. What I know sofar is it 'was ditched on its return', understood from Dortmund and one crewmember was rescued. Reason for this question: to see if it is linked with a potential emergency drop of bombs over The Netherlands, yet unexplained.

Kind regards,
Hendrik

107 squadron Blenheim T1928 ditched Great Yarmouth 23/11/1940

L.S.,

A new attempt. Having tried to post a new thread some time ago, not having seen it appearing I do a new attempt.

I am looking for data of the Blenheim T1928 that ditched off Great Yarmouth on the 23rd of November 1940, in the evening hours. The reports say she was on her way back from ops in NW Germany (later understood to be Dortmund). One crew member survived.

What I am looking for is possible extra data like the time she ditched and possible data like whether she dropped her bombs on the/a target or was damaged before reaching it.

Reason for this info is to see if we can piece together which plane dropped bombs in the evening hours in the NW of The Netherlands in the middle of nowhere (= emergency drop).

Any assistance is appreciated.

Kind regards,
Hendrik

I suppose it comes down to what the surviving crew member said when he was interviewed. Some of the experienced members may be able to suggest whether there is a Form number of other type of document that can be searched in the UK National Archives at Kew. Such info is unlikely to appear in the Station or Squadron Operation Record Books.

Larry,

The one surviving was a L.E. Gillard, sergeant. Been trying to find something like what you mentioned, to no avail (yet). Looking at RLNI-, ASRMCU- and local-records too, but also no reference that I can trace yet.

Any further info is welcome.

Kind regards,
Hendrik
