Disciplinary action against Hptm. Rudolf Altendorf, Kdr. IV./NJG5 Sept. 1944?

Dear all,

Hptm. Rudolf Altendorf, Kommandeur of IV./NJG5 was disciplinary relieved of his command of his Gruppe on 9 September 1944 and sentenced to 1 year and 6 months confinement, fined and demoted with most of the sentence suspended, provided he “prove” himself in combat with the enemy. Does anybody know the reason for this heavy sentence?

I would also be very interested to know who is currently owning the photo albums of Altendorf, as I would like to publish a couple of photos of Altendorf in the NJWD 2nd edition.

Sorry, I do not know why Rudolf Altendorf has been demoted, but I am also looking for any information on him. Any links to information would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know when/how (if) he died?

I own a couple of photographs of him from which come from a private collection and -as far as I am aware- have never been made public.
