Hello Snautzer,

Thanks for finding these photo jewels. I know it is not easy.

Unless I am mistaken, this is Ju87G-2 (494xxx) SO+FN, V8+KH, surrendered at Eschweg.

Hi all,
V8 is the code for Nachtschlachtgruppe 1.

@Steve: Is "V8" confirmed for the Eschwege birds? I am trying to decypher their unit code from photos for ages...

Are you sure about the unit code, Steve?
  • V8 was NSG 1 and that Gruppe used the Staffel letters B, C, D rather than the standard H, K, L.
  • NSG 1 never reported any G series on strength that I've seen, only D's.
  • This machine has no exhaust suppressors for night operations.

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.

Hello Christian,

Straight-up answer, I don't know where I obtained the "V8+" data. Further, in looking at all of my photos again, I also don't see the codes on the aircraft at Eschweg. I do remember, however, corresponding with Jim Crow several years ago and his mentioning that he had views which faintly showed the unit codes. I will contact Jim and see if he can help clear up this conundrum.

Thanks Steve, that would be great! Up to now I did always put those Eschwege Stukas in the SG 2-corner (why I don't know, must be the general appearance)..

Re: eBay Ju87 panzer knacker captured.

Nick and Christian,

Thank you both for your corrections. I must have had some bogus data and stupidly extrapolated from it. My files will be corrected immediately.

Hello,

I think this plane was used by the SG2. Look the two diagonal white lines on the rudder.
These lines was painted on the rudders of the planes surrendered at kitzigen.

Ju-87 G-2 WNr. 494110 <-+- Stab/SG2 Hans-Ulrich Rudel for example.

Best regards,

Lumabe.
