Two Ju 88 Crash Photos for Identification Please 1940-42
Hi all
Two more rather challenging images to try and untangle. The first shows what I think is a Junkers Ju 88A-1 force-landed on German held territory. I noted the bent metal propeller blades and uniforms and think this places the image to 1940 and perhaps the Aalborg area. The unit is II. Gruppe, KG 30. The second image is very difficult to determine from the aircraft as it is so far away but I am hoping someone might recognise the geography. I think this could be anytime up to summer 1942 (season assumed from the trees to be summertime) and in North Norway or elsewhere in northern Scandinavia but this is a pure guess. The unit is again II. Gruppe, KG 30. If anyone can add anything to my knowledge of either image I would be very grateful.

I also have an original of the first photo but no luck in identifying what appears to be a minor incident

Re: Two Ju 88 Crash Photos for Identification Please 1940-42
Hi
Just a thought. Could it be one of KG30's aircraft force landed after the raid of the North East in August 1940? I recall several of 219 squadrons air gunners telling me that Ju88's were seen returning toward Denmark with smoke issuing after combat over Flamboro Head and Driffield. Gerry |

I had wondered the same but didn't like to jump to any conclusions without sufficient evidence.

Those in the photo look to be wearing clothes more likely in Winter not August. Insufficient evidence I'm afraid albeit Erkens was with KG 30 then
