Re: A german wheel !
two questions;
- What makes you think it is a German wheel? - What makes you think it is from an aircraft? I doubt it is from an aircraft, may be german, don't know, but I would be quite surprised if it was from an aircraft. |

Re: A german wheel !
Interesting, but maybe it might be worth posting this on a WW1 forum. You never know! It certainly looks to be of something like that Era.
What looks to be solid rubber tyres to my knowledge were never on and WWII aircraft. Best of Luck Kind Regards |

Re: A german wheel !
My thought would be from a gurney or cart. The extra bit of metal looks like part of a mechanism to lock the wheel so it would not roll.

Re: A german wheel !
This lever looks like a brake that sits on the outside of the wheel, has the same radius. I also don´t believe that it is part of an airplane.

Re: A german wheel !
An aircraft part would have sach nummern in line with the RLM designation system. And what you've written doesn't match what the RLM system numbers looked like.

Re: A german wheel !
Yep, not RLM, rather German Industry ... Vorwerk is a German company since 1883, and rebuilt after WW2 .. (1935 doing Vaccum Cleaners )

Re: A german wheel !
For me, it looks somehow the same as the trace roll of an plow (maybe).
But what for there´s a brake ? Maybe it isn´t a brake - just an construction to hold away mud from the roll ? ![]() Example : http://www.poettinger.at/img/landtec...ustreicher.jpg |
