He-51 coded 23+U13
Dear All,
I have a photo of a Heinkel He-51 fighter coded 23+U13. This I read as the third fighter Geschwader in Luftkreis 2, 1 Gruppe, 3rd Staffel, or JG 332. Now there was JG 132 Richthofen, there was briefly JG 232 (I. Gruppe only) which was in March/April 1937 renamed I./JG 137, but I have never heard of JG 332. Was this a spurious designation, or temporary designation for a unit equipped with fighter aircraft, soon to become a Schlacht unit (and equipped with say Hs 123 aircraft), or... Any help in the matter will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Sinisa |
