Probably one from I or III/ZG 1; positive identification is not possible

Re: Ju.88 lost 7 june 1994 / Caen

A poor copy of a 'K' report shows that Ju 88.C6 2N+NK of 2/ZG 1 was shot down at 0930hrs. on the Beachead between Caen and Bayeux. The crew were given as pilot Fw. Lottenberger and Ob. Uffz. Freivalde both fate unknown while the W/T Fw.Rudolf Gericke was a POW. According to Gericke the aircraft was hit by A.A., this may or may not be the aircraft you are interested in, as Chris says positive identification is not possible.

According to the POW the aircraft was climbing back for cloud cover with the cloud base between 1500-1700m when it was hit. If this ties up with any combat report it could perhaps clarify the circumstances of this loss. The POW may only have assumed AA as the cause if a fighter was not seen ?

Re: Ju.88 lost 7 june 1994 / Caen

ZG 1 lost at least 7 aircraft and one badly damaged so assume nothing! Furthermore 126 Wg claimed 8 destroyed, 1 probable and 2 damaged whilst Crawford-Compton claimed just one
