Is it more known about this specific Spitfire, in 1943 in flight place Ajaccio/Campo dell'oro ?


Matricule ?538 White 3

According the Spitfire Production List there was EF538 that suffered an undercarriage collapse at Campo dell'Oro on 7 Nov 1943. GC 1.

Hi Leendert. Some of these early French Spitfire Vs at Ajaccio had numbers and British cocardes; JL316 was no."2" GC.II/7 (326 Sqn.). There was a no."3" but can't see serial, possibly GC.I/3 (327 Sqn.)
These were "French" squadrons not "Free French". In Desert colours with Vokes filters.
