JG 2 losses for the 15 May 1943

Hello

This day, the I./JG 2 would have taken off to intercept RAF Circus whose target was Caen-Carpiquet.
According to the book of Donald Cadwell (JG 26 War Diary, vol 2, p 59), I./JG 2 claimed six victories and lost four pilots.

Anybody has more Information about this losses ?

JG 2 losses for 15 May 1943

Hello Alexis

I have:

Fw 190 A-4 "Black 1" (W.Nr. 0140 734) flown by Leutnant Horst Hannig (98 victories, RK), Staffelkapitän of 2./JG 2, over Rocquancourt, 10 kilometres south of Caen, killed
Fw 190 A-4 (W.Nr. 0145 580) flown by Unteroffizier Gödde of I./JG 2, baled out east of Rocquancourt
Fw 190 A-4 (W.Nr. 0147 200) flown by Oberleutnant Gebhardt of 2./JG 2, killed when his parachute did not open over Mondeville, south of Caen

I should add that I have also seen Hannig's fighter listed as Fw 190 A-4 "Black 1" (W.Nr. 0147 134). He was shot down by S/Ldr John "Jack" Charles (15 destroyed, 1.6 probable and 1.5 damaged victories) of 611 Sqn, RAF.

I hope that this helps somewhat.

Horrido!

Leo
