Sgt J C Tate 253 Sqn
Was this pilot who was then wounded at Dieppe on 19 Aug 42 the same as Fg Off John Chapple Tate who was killed (died?) 14 Oct 42. I believe that the latter was Coastal Command and a WOp/AG?

Re: Sgt J C Tate 253 Sqn
Chris,
I have J C Tate of 253 Sqn as being from the USA. John Chapple Tate was born in Ontario, J1531, and was killed in a crash at Chandler, Quebec, in Hudson 685. See https://rcafassociation.ca/heritage/...bor-to-tinker/ Too many J C Tates in FindaGrave … Enjoy! Frank.

Re: Sgt J C Tate 253 Sqn
Thanks Frank. As I suspected. Now need the AHB to tell me his details when wounded on 19 Aug 42 which might help me get a name and number

Re: Sgt J C Tate 253 Sqn
And my thanks as well. Fixes up an RAF ETO entry, as well as a USAAF MTO entry, and merges the two names.
Enjoy! Frank.

Re: Sgt J C Tate 253 Sqn
Quote:
Couple of amendments to above: John Chapple Tate's RCAF service number was J15351, not J1531. The 11 Sqn (BR) Hudson IIIA lost on 14 October 1942, was BW685, not (RCAF)685. Col. |
