VPB-103 - Roster / Research Assistance
Dear all -
Firstly, it's a pleasure to be here on the forum - looks terrific. I have been trying, but failing, to find out a little concerning a flyer from VPB-103, based at DUNKESWELL, ENGLAND. The squadron flew PB4Y Liberators in an anti-sub/shipping role. The flyer I am researching was named HOOPER. I only have his last name, no additional details. I've undertaken a fairly extensive online search and found some good sites but got nowhere. http://www.vpnavy.org/nasdunkeswell.html Does anyone know where I might find a squadron roster, or a lead to a sqn association / historian etc.? Thanks in advance and all the best. |

Re: VPB-103 - Roster / Research Assistance
There is a history published of FAW 7 (which VPB 103 was assigned to). I have the diaries of FAW 7 and all reports and have written about FAW in my book 'Bloody Biscay' (but found no mention in FAW 7 losses). There is also a FAW 7 Association (but I have not heard from them for some time) so the bottom line is if you would like to send me a PM, I will see what I can do!

...and a quick check of the book before I headed off to work shows no mention or as a casualty. What was his function-pilot or what?

Re: VPB-103 - Roster / Research Assistance
Hello Chris - many thanks for checking this out. I really have no idea what he may have been other than a member of the squadron. I'm fairly sure he was a flyer of some sort rather than aircrew.
