Manufacturing codes

Does anyone know what companies are designated by the codes hpw (Fw190 & Si204) and nmw (Fw190).

All help will be appreciated,

hpw = Bohmiach-Mahrische Maschinenfabriken AG, Werk Flugzeug-Motoren Fabrik, Karolinenthal-Lieben

nmw = HoubenwerkeAachen, Roermonderstr. 67

Did you mean hmw? hmw = Norddeutsche Dornier-Werke G.m.b.H. Flugzeugbau, Seestadt Wismer.

Hmmm....
Both these codes are from this lead:

Both are werkmunnern from the 440### range. I thought it was a bit strange that they were built by different companies, though not impossible. I gues both codes were copied wrongly.

Dennis,

Both codes are perhaps "incorrect and correct" at the same time. I suggest that the codes (in particular, hpw) may have in fact been on data plates on those airplanes. However, not on a main ID plate or an airframe structural assembly plate (indicating the planes' primary maker), but on component or item of equipment tags.

Whether by taking information from the wrong type of plate, miss-reading the plate code and/or entering incorrect information in the (first) written, then typed data records, human-error is inevitable. These duties must have been rather boring, mundane to the personnel so tasked.

I might add that at times, even with plate in hand, it's tough to read the stamped entries.

PS: The codes given for the Si 204s (hik & hpw) and a Ju 52 (jbg) do not connect with firms that built these types.

Another possibilty would be that these "codes" are not "codes" in the usual sense. The shorthand expression NMW was written in big letters like BMW ... maybe it's an abbreviation for an factory. So could be "jbg" used for Junkerswerk Bernburg (jbg).

Fw 190 F-9 in the 440xxx series were in fact built by NDW (hmw).
The first one I have 440106, was assembled in Feb/Mar 1945.

The Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke A.G., Zweigwerk Bernburg had the official code jbq (similar to the reported jbg), so in my opinion it was just a simple reading/writting error of the person who collected the data from the data plates.
It is the same with hmw/nmw for the Norddeutsche Dornier-Werke GmbH, Flugzeugbau, Seestadt Wismar.

There are different sources for that.
The first one is a list of Manufacturers for the Fw 190 with it´s
associated blocks (only the first 2 digits) from December 1944.
Than a report from BAL NDW about malfunctions in the production of
Fw 190 November 1944 - March 1945
and the log of Reinhold Schulz.
