This wreck was recovered in Normandy. I was curious who the pilot was, unit, reason for crash, etc.
Thanks! Mike |

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
Do you know this site: http://www.absa39-45.asso.fr/formula...ase_pertes.php?
The bit you want is the option "Recherchez par le werk" (search by Werk Nummer). |

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
Try absa39-45.com will be better...
... and, anyway, don't need to try this link since it does concern BRETAGNE AREA not NORMANDY! Cheers, Franck. PS: of course this WNr. isn't in their list. |

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
Normandy losses are still there, under "Aviation divers" and then "Les pertes du 6 juin au 31 août 1944"

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
Hi Matti!
Your info is not correct... The remains of this aircraft, were recovered in the 1990's in Normandy. Based on the markings, and pilot, this is the correct loss info for W.Nr. 165236: Lt. Gerhard Schindler, Me109 G6, "White 1" from 10/JG27. Loss was on 10.6.1944. Pilot became a POW. Where did you get the info you posted? |

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
Dear Mike,
you're information concerning Bf 109 G-6 165 236 is quite puzzling - according to the WASt. report the aircraft was lost as pointed out my Matti on July 4th, 1944, with Lt. Manfred Thümmel being wounded, whereas Lt. Gerhard Schindler had to belly land on German held territory on June 10th being wounded, his aircraft Bf 109 G-6 WerkNr. 412 422, " white 1 " being moderatley damaged ( 20 % ). Schindler was not captured; to the contrary he soldiered on with IV./JG 27, acting temporarily as Staffelführer of 13./JG 27, being wounded again on December 16th, 1944. So it would be interesting to learn where your information came from. Regards Jochen Prien |

Re: Info Needed on Me109G-6 W.Nr. 165236
My info comes from the person who recovered the wreck. He told me it was recovered in France, and I have many relics from this loss. I also have a piece with the werk number on it...
let me re-confirm with him, as something is not right... |
