Russian aircrafts captured Romania
There are some reports suggesting that few Russian aircrafts including from lend and lease aircraft were captured by the Romanians
either through defectors or during war hostilities in airworthy conditions and then were sent to the air testing facility Gimbav / Brasov before being sent to the famous test center facility in Germany at Reichlin. This pattern existed with the AAC B-24D captured during the low level raid which remained in Romania as a training aircraft. The details I have are : I-16 and MIG-3 known IL-2 ....July 1941 known A-20 HAVOC 1943 when and what unit, perhaps pilot's name ? B-25 (crashed near Romanian border,in Hungaria ) P-39 partial details known DB-3F ? DB-3T ? SB-2 ? MBR-2 ? Thanks in adance |
