Allied aircraft sank Russian sub
Hi Gents
In September 1944 an Allied aircraft sank Russian submarine Sch-402. Has anyone any information please? Cheers Brian |

Sch -402 mistenkenly sunk by Soviet Plane type Boston of 36. GMTAP on September 21 1944 at 6.42, 5,5 miles north of Norwegian Harbour Gamvik. See

Many thanks for the details - unfortunately, my Russian is far worse than my English, so are you able to advise if all crew were lost, name of captain etc, please. Cheers Brian |

Submarine departed base at 21.06 hour on September 17 1944 to patrol Area Kongsfjord, Sector D, as part of Operation RV-8. It was her 16th Mission during WW2. Most of Russian Historians wrote that she was sunk by Boston Plane of 36th MTAP, but some of them don´t believe that it is right explanation. All crew killed - 45 KIA. |
