1(F)/123 1000th Mission - Luftwaffe and Allied Air Forces Discussion Forum

The above flew its 1000th mission 18 Jul 42; its 500th was flown by Oblt Gottfried Berndt, Oblt Karl Rueck, Ofw Rudi Reiche and Uffz Reiser. Does anyone know who flew the 1000th, when the 500th was flown and who was the St Kap on 18 Jul 42 (Hptm Armin Goebel?)

Hi Chris,

Armin Goebel was St.Kap. as of 18Jul42. I've no details of 500th or 1000th mission I'm afraid.

Thanks Andy. Reason for asking is that I have a commemorative plate from 1/123 for 18 Jul 42 and have seen photos of the 500th

Somewhat off topic but do you know if Goebel was a flugzeugführer or beobachter.
