helmut wick??ju88 shoot down,aug 13th??

hi,
can anyone tell me"if helmut wick" did accidently.shoot down a ju 88,in around 13 8 40??.in the book pete townsend duel of eagles,he says helmut wick, threw his whisky jar, at the fire place,then went to bed, in disgust,at thinkin he had shot down a ju 88 off cherburg,,i recall this books remark but dont own it anymore,

I'm surprised that you haven't heard from those in the know! Having re-read what Townsend wrote, I would suggest that Wick's shooting down of a Ju88 - if it did indeed occur - happened before 13 August and not on that date.
