Wt/Off Harvey Donald Muirhead RCAF

Hi,

Anyone know the circumstances surrounding the loss of W/O Muirhead (R/79587) 401 RCAF Sqn on 17th February 1943?

He is buried at Catterick Cemetery. He is not listed in Fighter Command Losses Vol 2 by Norman Franks so I assume he was involved in an accident rather than an operational loss.

Any help apprecited.

Alex

Hi Alex

He was killed in a Spitfire collision.

He was discussed on a rafcommands a couple of years ago:

Quote:
WO1 Muirhead(BM346) and F/Sgt.L. Gilis(W3839). Both aircraft were later found buried deeply on farmland four miles south of Northallerton. The bodies were not in the parts of the aircraft above ground.
