Hptm Max Franzisket ZG1

Hi all

has anyone got any more information on this guy

ZG1
Hptm Max Franzisket, 14.7.43 - 19.7.43. Believe he fell in Russia on 19th July 1943. I know nothing more except his birth date and location.
Geboren 22.08.1918 in Düsseldorf.

I am very interested in locating a log book from 1941 - when he was with 1(Z)/JG77 in the Arctic circle.

regards

Mark

Re: Hptm Max Franzisket ZG1

Mark,

I have some information that I have been compiling on Max Franzisket, thogh not yet complete. See link to my website below;

http://www.aufhimmelzuhause.com/id77.htm

It would also be useful for you to get a copy of Eric Mombeek's "Eismeerjager Band 1" which cronicles the Zerostorerstaffel of JG5 which Franzisket was a key member.

Cheers

Jeremy

Re: Hptm Max Franzisket ZG1

Jeremy

I have Eric's Band 1 and Band 2 books.

My interest relates to 151 Wing (RAF Hurricane unit) which I have been researching for a number of years now. Is a book one day!

At 11.45am, 12th September 1941 P/O 'Bas' Bush of 81 Sqn iin his Hurricane operating from Vaenga, traded shots with the rear gunner of a Bf110 NW of Murmansk. Can't find the source at the moment, (I think it is the dialy logs of 1(H)/32) that the pilot was named as Fransisket. The Bf110 was damaged but there was no listing in the quartermasters returns - probably 10% or so. I had hoped his log book might have survived and was thinking about trying to find the family (there is only 5 of so Fransiskets in Germany). Seems you are already in contact with the family?.

You websight was very interesting. A few things I noticed.

1.(Z)/JG77 was the first unit up 25.01.42 it became 6.(Z)/JG5. This only last six weeks before it became 10.(Z)/JG5 on 16.03.42. On 26.06.42 it changed to its last deisngation 13.(Z)/JG5.

See
http://www.ww2.dk/air/jagd/jg5.htm

I think Fransisket was only with ZG1 for four days or so before he was MIA/killed.

I assume you have no log book?

Thanks for your response.Very interesting.

regards

Mark

Re: Hptm Max Franzisket ZG1

You probably know this already but the 2 Albacores Franzisket claimed on 30/07/1941 were part of a strike force from the Fleet Air Arm which bombed Kirkenes/Petsamo. They may have been aircraft from HMS Victorious' 828 Squadron.

It will be more correct:

Orel / Bogoroditzkoe /Orlovka / Ledna-Ost Airfield (base of I./ZG 1) / Nikol'skoe / Orlitza / Rybnitza

To see the location of I./ZG 1 battle over Orel, You can use this link (sorry, but it is in Russian - I just dont know english webpages about this):

http://kursk1943.mil.ru/kursk/map/north.html

19th July - Red Army entered Orel.

Actually - I./ZG 1 had very hard fights over Bolhov area, many ground attack missions. Russian documents confirming heavy losses because of Bf110's low level attacks. Also, Gruppe had heavy losses in that missions:

Joachim Blechschmidt - Stab ./ZG 1 on 13 july NW from Bolhov, Wilfried Herrmann Stab I./ZG 1 over Krapivna... And then Franzisket...

S!

Re: Hptm Max Franzisket ZG1

Question: is it 100% clear that Hptm. Franzisket was shot down by FLAK?

And how many Bf110 was lost/damaged on that day in that area?

I have new information about that day, very interesting... need to confirm...

Is it possible that Franzisket was shot down NOT by Flak? For example, "exploded" after fighter attack, and thought as "took direct hit from Flak"?

Best wishes!
