SPITFIRE V EP549, W3656
These aircraft were the mounts of FL John B Shepherd. Were these Vb or Vc? And were these "clipped wing" versions?

Re: SPITFIRE V EP549, W3656
Having consulted 'Spitfire the History'
EP549 was a long range VB. W3656 was also a VB. Neither are listed as LF models so they were unlikley to have had clipped wings. Regards Andy |

Re: SPITFIRE V EP549, W3656
Hi Keith,
W3656 had a fuel system modificated in March 1943, and was used by the 64 Sqn in 1943-44 as well as LR EP549. I believe both were Long Range version at that time with standard elyptic wings. Merry Christmas, Michal |

Re: SPITFIRE V EP549, W3656
Thanks for that. I was kinda hoping it'd be a clipped wing version but had read that 118 had very few of these.
