Re: Photos 3-26
Hello!
About the Ju 88 A4 RF+ON on these photos: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=300204246143 http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=300204246391 Looks like it has full Eastern Front markings in addition to the instrument trainer bands (yellow also under wing tips). Any ideas what the unit of this plane would have been? KG 101?? Cheers, Kari |

Re: Photos 3-26
Hello all,
First appears as A-4 RF+ON (White ? ´7´ ) - W.Nr. 6614 - but the latter appears to have ´25´ on fin (but photo is rather blurry). I have no match for accident of 6614 in period January 1943 to September 1944 (Schulen losses) but damage may have been less than 10% (but one broken wing and needing two new engines / props may have resulted in damage of at least 15 - 20%). cheers ed |

Re: Photos 3-26
I missed something.......
I was just makeing a statement that 262 photos have been very scarce of late. Did I miss one ? Usually Ed notes a 262 photo, or anything of 262 significance. |

Is that a smashed 262 fuselage lying on the ground beside the Ar 96? The vendor's caption "WWII German FW-190 and ME-109 Graveyard" is, as usual, slightly misleading! |

Additional piece of information surfaced. RF+ON has apparently been logged in Herbert Riedel's Flugbuch. Unit was FFS (C) 9 and date May 6th, 1943. According Michael Holm's site the unit was based at Pretzsch which is some 200 km SW of Berlin. This leaves the Eastern Front markings without explanation. Would RF+ON have been transferred to KG 101? This was training unit and based at Pskov for May to August 1943. It may have participated on missions too. During Summer 1943 Luftflotte 1 had practically no bombers as they were transferred to central sector of Eastern Front (Lfl 6 area). Thanks for responses, Kari |
