Another 381st BG/Fighter collision
Following on from Chris' inquiry is there a definite identification of the Bf 109 which collided with B17 ''Tinker Toy'' of 535BS/381BG on 20-12-1943. The B17 crash site is given as Ganderkesse 5km. west of Delmenhorst at 1147 hrs. Although Uffz. Swoboda of II/JG1 has been reported as deliberately ramming a B17 this was too far north over Norderney and was probaly a 96BG Fortress. The Luft. QM list does show Fw Fritz Erkenkamper of 7/JG54 baling out north of Delmenhorst. Has anyone researched this incident and can comfirm whether it was Erkenkampers aircraft that bought down Tinker Toy,
