Re: Claims 4FG on FW-190-Me109 over Belgium

The claims listed are most interesting when compared with known Jagdwaffe losses. We are weak, to be sure, on 1944 “damage” losses, but JG 300 lost six Bf 109s, four in combat and two in accidents. However, they were flying against a night raid over Berlin. II./JG 27 lost six 109s. Four are listed as “locations unknown”, but two are listed in locations near Aachen. One of these was Staffelführer Oblt. Willi Kientsch.

Other combat losses were from JG 3 but due to action with B-17s. It would appear that the 4th FG claims for seven Bf 109s was pretty accurate.

Kientsch was a Knight's Cross holder with 53 absch. including 20 viermots. He was KIA this day. Wonder who got him?
