Bf109G-6 or G-6/AS? Experts welcome

Hello friends,

I´ve posted these pics to another forums already but no one is 100% sure about the version.
So is it G-6 or G-6/AS? According to the pilot that flew it it is G-6 but according to the pics should be a G-6/AS.
Your opinion?

Roman

Re: Bf109G-6 or G-6/AS? Experts welcome

There are no doubts: the third photo clearly shows the wider cowl bulges (no classic "beule" is visible) and the round hatch of the cold air starting device is in the lower position. It is clearly an AS-equipped aircraft.

No surprise that the pilot remembers it as a G-6 only. Pilots were not technicians and what mattered to them was the series, not the suffixes...

Hope it helps.

This is a I./JG 300 Bf 109G with MK 108 cannon piloted by Uffz. Willi Reschke. On 29th August 1944r., after shoting down one of B-17 (as his 14th victory), Reschke a/c was hit by fire from one of Bf 109, so he was force to belly landed.

Hi,

Is it possible to be a G-14?

If for sure G6, then G-6AS would be correct.

According to the documents, I./JG302 was never equiped by G-14. So I really belive G-6/AS. Thank you Mike for your opinion.
