109 F losses for 17th April '42.

Hello all.

Seeking info regarding Me109 F (?) losses on 17th April '42. I am interested in the following claim by W/C I R Gleed of the Ibsley Wing.

1 x Me109 F probably destroyed. 09:30hrs. Channel Islands area. Shared with 501 Sqn., S/L C F Currant. Enemy a/c last seen in vertical dive at 8000ft., smoking and followed by 501 Sqn. aircaft.

There were a number additional claims for this day around Cherbourg area but Gleeds mention of the Channel Islands would put combat off West coast of Contentin Peninsula!

Can anyone help with Luftwaffe unit/crew details please?

Steve.
