B.F.M. Droog is on a distinguished road
Lt A.D. Neely, 825 Sqdn, POW on 28 or 29 May 1940?

On 28 and 29 May 1940 FAA 825 Squadron, flying with Swordfishes, was in action above Dunkirk. On these two days the squadron lost approx. nine planes, but the information I found is rather contradictory.

Especially regarding Lt A.D. Neely,
Lt R.G. Wood, Naval Airman V.S.A. Moore and S/Lt (A) J. T. Nicholson.

According to Fleet Arm Archive, FAA Prisoners of War, Lt A.D. Neely was taken prisoner on 28/05/1940, flying in a Swordfish with:
Lt R.G. Wood, POW
Naval Airman/Telegraphist Air Gunner V.S.A. Moore, POW
.

The same source however
names (on another page) JT Nicholson as pilot and is unsure whether or not V.S.A. Moore was 'recovered'.

Another source, Naval History.net, states for 29/05/1940, 825 Sqdn:

Lt A. D. Neely and Naval Airman F. G.Rumsey were taken prisoner when their Swordfish was shot down.

Lt Cdr J. B. Buckley and Lt R.G. Wood were taken prisoner when their Swordfish crashed landed. Buckley died in POW camp on 21 March 1943.

S/Lt (A) J. T. Nicholson and Naval Airman V. S. A. Moore were taken prisoner when their Swordfish crashed.

Which source to believe?

Regards,

Bart
