Does anyone know the exact day of promotion of Norman L. McDonald to LtCol? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Norman L. McDonald

Mr. Zdenek,
I do not have the information you seek on his date of promotion to L/C; however, Maj McDonald was a member of the 325th FG as I was and flew with it from 26 Nov 1944 until the end of the war, in May 1945. We show him with 11 victories, 4 with the 325th, the rest with the 52nd FG which he was initially assigned to. I also have a short bio of him stating that he had 11½ victories although the drawing of his aircraft shows 12 crosses and refers to him as Lt/Col McDonald. He was born in 1918 in Framingham, MA, lived there in 1999 with his wife Helen, but shows up as deceased in our 2005 roster. I also have a short bit about his 52nd FG experience together with the dates and types of victories he had in the 325th FG, but I am sure you know that already. He flew #66 with the name Shu Shu on the left side and Chuck-O on the right side of the nose.
Cordially, Art Fiedler

Re: Norman L. McDonald

Art - slightly off topic - Gordy Graham passed away Saturday. Only one 355th ace left with us

Re: Norman L. McDonald

Bill,
I understand completely. Of the 27 aces we had, there are 4 known to be alive. Myself and Barrie Davis in relatively decent health, one who no longer responds to Emails or letters, and one who for many years has apparently been hanging on the edge. So yes, I understand and it grieves me greatly to see that so many fine gentlemen with whom I had the pleasure of flying in the Big One have taken off on their last flight.
Cordially, Art
