48th Fighter Group/492nd FS April 1945 MIA

Hello,

did anybody knows more information about the fate of 1st Lt. Charles E. Mc Daniel Jr? Is he still missing in action? He was shot down by AA on 05.April 1945 near the Ruhr Pocket.

Thank you.

Flugplatz,

According an entry on www.wwiimemorial.com 1st Lt. Charles E. McDaniel Jr. was KIA. He was from Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. 0-887224.

You can best use this site to see if someone is still listed as missing: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/ This of course for American personnel only.

Regards,

Leendert

Best greetings to Flugplatz Giessen !

If your man is "C. E. McDaniel Jr., AAF-s/n 0-887224, then he is not an MIA. His (post-war) burial lacation after recovered at his initial burial place from a U.S Grave Registration unit was Neuville-En-Condroz U.S.. Cemetary near Liége, Belgium. He now rests somewhere on Oklahoma, USA.

Hope, this helps,

Horst Weber
