Aerial combat with Heinkel He 115 on 5 September 1939

In the morning of 5 September 1939 a british bomber was shot down in aerial combat with a He 115 of Küstenfliegerstaffel 1./106 (Norderney). One survivor was brought ashore at Norderney. Can somebody provide details of this british aircraft and crew.

You may refer to Avro Anson K6183 of No. 206 Sqn, engaged by the Ku.fl.Gr. you mentioned.

Pilot P/O Laurence Hugh Edwards was POW. Dorsal gunner LAC John Quilter KIA by gunfire, Sgt Alexander Hislop and AC1 Geoffrey Sheffield died in crash.

Edwards swam away from the wreckage and was picked up by He-115 and brought ashore.

Regards,

Leendert

Thank you for information Leendert. Can you please give some sort of record reference.

My info refers to Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv RM 35/II 3 KTB F.d.Luft West 5. - 15.9.1939.
