Disappointed
that a website dedicated to the Air War over WWII Europe..and my post asking for references to the Allied and Axis OOB as of Dec 1941 got no hits???
Com'on boys...No one on this this site can't provide one source that lists Airfields for both sides and type and number of aircraft assigned?? Hopefully someone on this site has a lead on this? Sully |

there is plenty of sources....e.g.
www.ww2.dk good source for Luftwaffe aircraft assigned to units and airfields www.armyairforces.com source for USAAF stations of units

Sully[/QUOTE] For the Luftwaffe, it entails a trip to The Bundesarchiv in Freiburg, staying a few days and working through the big blue ledgers which contain the 10-day unit strength returns (or at least that's how the 1944 ones look, I haven't done 1941). The data I've seen is organised by type of unit (e.g. all the bombers are together) not by Luftflotte or theatre so may not be in the form you want it. If that sounds like a lot of trouble to go to, what you were asking would have entailed someone here having done it at some point and that may explain why you didn't get an answer. |
