Unidentified emblem

Hi, folks...

Are any of you able to identify the emblem below, please? I recently saw a photo of a Dornier Do17M (or P) with this emblem showing on the forward fuselage, behind a narrow (yellow?) band, which in turn was positioned immediately behind the rear edge of the cockpit canopy.

I would be interested to know, if possible, what unit used this, what time period and any coding that the aircraft may have carried. One book I have states that there was perhaps some kind of legend above the shield, which maye have ended with a '1'. Thanks in advance for any information provided.

Regards...

Re: Unidentified emblem

Not much, but the following text is reproduced from "Luftwaffe Emblems 1939-45" by Ketley & Rolfe [Hikoki, 1998]

"Unidentified - A quartered shield with various symbols including winged propellers and lightning bolts. There is a barely discernible legend ending in '1' above the shield which suggests that it may belong to a signals (?) school. He111B"

Re: Unidentified emblem

The emblem belongs to the "Große Kampffliegerschule 2" later "Kampfbeobachterschule 2" at Hörsching.
