P/O P. E. M. Robinson 56 Sqdn killed 17.06.41

Hi to all,

Searching for further info regarding P/O Peter Robinson, killed in crash of Hurricane II Z2812 on the 17.06.41. Does anyone have further info regarding the loss? Was he shot down? Where did the Hurricane crash? I know that he was laid to rest at North Weald (St.Andrew Churchyard) Row 2, Grave 2. Does anyone have a photo of his grave? Any help greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Melvin

Melvin,

P/O Robinson was killed when his Hurricane was shot down by a Me-109 over N. France while on an escort mission for Blenheims to Choques. Three more Hurricanes of 56 Squadron were lost in same engagement (2 pilots KIA, 1 POW).

Regards,

Leendert

Melvin

you maybe interested in a couple of photos of him (if you haven't already seen this):

And just to add to Leendert's post, after being shotdown over the Channel he was seen to have baled out. His body was found by a trawler four days later, riddled with bullets. Hence his burial at North Weald
