Finnish aviation museums

Hi...

Would any of our Finnish friends, or others, be able to supply me with details of aviation museums around the Helsinki area, please?

I know there's one not too far from the airport, but I think someone posted details of another outwith the Helsinki area on this forum recently. If memory serves me, it's north of Helsinki and at some point, the road heading west towards Turku is taken. Unfortunately I can't remember who posted the information, so I can't easily track the thread... sorry...

Any information would be very much appreciated, especially opening dates and times... thank you...

Regards...

Re: Finnish aviation museums

Isn't there an aircraft on the island outside Helsinki in some sort of military museum there, one of the of the Finnish designs? It's a 15 min boat trip from helsiniki and there are pleanty of boats going. May be martti can add something to it.

The museums in Finland are really, really great!

The I.V.L. C.25 should be at the Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo right now but for a long time it was at the Suomenlinna in a Military Museum ("Maneesi").

Re: Finnish aviation museums

it is slightly off topic, but on the island fort (Suomenlinna, I think its called from memory), there is a small sub that is sitting on the beach - or at least there was when I was there three-odd years ago. You can't get into it, but you can get up close and personal with it...

Hi,

the list of the planes in the museum is here: http://www.suomenilmailumuseo.fi/fi/info/koneet.html

You could send an e-mail to the museum and ask:
info@suomenilmailumuseo.fi

Best regards,
