Fw. 190A-8/R2 Yellow '8'

Can anyone give me details on Friedrich Karl Frank's Yellow '8' which was shot down on September 11th, 1944 over the Ore Mountains. I would like to know how it crashed and who shot it down.

Leo

Feldwebel Friedrich-Karl Frank

Hello Leo (!)

I have that Feldwebel Friedrich-Karl Frank of 7./JG 4 bailed out wounded from his Fw 190 A-8/R8 "Yellow 8" (W.Nr. 681 323) over Weipert after claiming a B-17 four-engined bomber at 12:15 south of Chemnitz at 8,300 meters on 11 September 1944. No idea on who or what shot him down. At http://add.museum119.cz/tour/room_III_p3.htm there are several photographs of recovered parts of what is presumed to be his fighter.

Horrido!

Leo
