Re: ju 88 werknumbers

There may well be something missing from these W.Nrs., what was your source and perhaps I could be of assistance. It appears that all of the numbers as shown were not Ju 88 A-17s. They may be incomplete or truncated, so knowing the context of the information, i.e.,time period, location, organization, type of documentation may help.

Best Regards,

ArtieBob

Re: ju 88 werknumbers

hi artiebob,

thanks for your reply. these wnr. come from a sheet of paper, which was used as a feldpost-letter. the letter itself was written in march 1944. maybe that helps.

regards
jim

Re: ju 88 werknumbers

The time period is correct for A-17 conversions by MWH (all A-17s were Umbau from A-4s, thus the W.Nr sequence was almost certainly to be interupted). A number of these conversions were made to Ju 88A-4s manufactured by Siebel in the 801xxx W.Nr. block, which would fit. It was not uncommon for only the last four digits of a six digit W.Nr. to be used in various documents. The manufacture dates for Siebel W.Nr. 801391 to 801408 probably were in the Nov-Dec 1943 time period, so possibly this correspondence might relate to completed A-17 conversions. Most went to KG 26. Perhaps this is of some help, but the SWAG content is high.

Best Regards,

Artie Bob
