He 111 lost 6.9.39 Poland.

Hi , on the 6.9.39 KG26 lost 3 He111's in the area of Leczyca, Poland.
Can anybody confirm whether Uffz Karl Detlefsen's a/c was coded 1H+2M?? or a typo in the records.
Also what was the fate of all the crews this day, were they all vermisst!

Best regs,
Steve.

Re: He 111 lost 6.9.39 Poland.

Hello Steve,

in my datas the marking is 1H + ZM and the whole crew was killed, shot down by Polish fighters from IV/DM and 114 EM.

The other planes were
Uffz Hermann Nolting 1H + AM Leczyca (2 KIA, 1 POW?) - fighters 112 EM
Olt Eberhard Strüwe 1H + DM Kalisz figthers 113 EM
Ltn Benesch Leczyca (damaged) fighters 113 EM

They all belonged to 4./KG 26 and were shot down at ca. 15.20 hours.

Regards

Re: He 111 lost 6.9.39 Poland.

Hello,
Was it 3 or 4 aircraft? I have 3 in my records with the total of 12 Crew missing in action. The attack was a low level attack on the road Leczyca - Lewitz.

Thanks for the additions,

Norbert

Re: He 111 lost 6.9.39 Poland.

Many thanks for the information Pilot05 and Norbert.

There was 4 a/c lost, 3x destroyed, and Lt Benesch's a/c forced landing with damage at Breslau-Schongarten. Any further information on these losses would be most welcome.

Rgs,
Steve.
