Another late war Me 109

From the same flickr source:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/farinih...7603465075646/

said to be a Me 109 G-14/AS, flown by Fw. Emmerich. A close scrutinization of the emblem on the cowl of this plane allows, maybe, to recognize a JG 3 machine. Any further inputs?

Cheers

Marc

Re: Another late war Me 109

Hi!

I recognise this machine, according to "Katchmarek" (I believe it was there i read it) it is a machine of NJG 11 (note the exhaust flame dampers) but retaining the badge of JG 3 "Udet" a practise which many historians curse : )

This is the answer as far as I know it.

All the best!

Thanks Agantyr!

A damned practice by all means to kep the former unit's emblem... And yes, I missed the flame dampers; thanks for the pointer.

Cheers

Re: Another late war Me 109

Agantyr,

I just stumbled on another NJG 11 Me 109 G-6/AS on this link:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/farinih...7603801462303/ (My thanks to the original poster).

I wasn't aware of this perfect shot until today.... Makes it a great day!

Cheers

I confirm it should be a G-14/AS due to the presence of the "cold start device" (the round hatch visible just below the starting handle) in the lower position, trademark of the DB 605A-AS engines (on the "D" version it was moved upward of some inches, resulting at the same level of the starting handle hole)

Marc,

if you locate an interesting photo on this "flickr" site, how can you determine who posted it or.....if that guy indeed has an original?

cheers,

John.

Re: Another late war Me 109

John,

For the case of the pics of late war Me 109's, here is the link to the person who put up a tremendous compilation of known, lesser known and even unknown - to me - late war Messerschmitt Bf 109 pics:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/farinihouseoflove/sets/

It is a well structured photo archive, not as impressive then David Weiss's Messerschmitt.de, but well worth a look. My impression is he scanned most of his pics

his e-mail is: farinihouseoflove [at] hotmail.it

For any other subject, you always have a profile of the uploader, with a flickr e-mail and that's how I could contact Volker with his great Dornier pics.

Hope this helps
Marc

Re: Another late war Me 109

Dear all,

on another line, jthe NJG 11 Me 109 G-6/AS mentionned above stands in front of a Me 109 K-4, to be recognized by the rear location of it's D/F loop. All told, an exceptionnal pic, also thanks to its sharpness.

Cheers

Marc
