B-26 Gunner Downs 2 ME-262s
I'm looking for info on a B-26 vs ME-262 combat in which the B-26 top turret gunnet was credited with downing 2 262s. The debris from the first one hit the B-26 causing serious damage.
The B-26 gunner in question was SSgt Ed "Tye" Tyszkiewicz S/N 36868066. The combat occured on April 20, 1945 and it was in B-26C "Jolly Roger" s/n 41-34942 YU+U. 455th BS 323rd BG 9th AF. Any info on this combat or Luftwaffe losses would be appreciated. |

Re: B-26 Gunner Downs 2 ME-262s
An Me 262 A1-b of 12/JG 7 was apparently damaged by a B-26 near Rotenburg and the unnamed pilot baled out wounded. The only other loss was Maj Gerhard Barkhorn of JV 44 who was injured when his ac suffered engine failure. However, at that stage of the war, records were the last thing on the Luftwaffe's mind
