N/F Claim confirmation PtII

Gents,

Having ordered today the NJWD I was hoping one of you kind people could confirm the following, or help establish the correct details, time, locations etc.

1. 22.06.42 Short Stirling N6078 HA-P Oblt Rudolph Schoenert NJG1
2. 25.06.42 Short Stirling W7503 HA-R Oblt Ludwig Becker II./NJG2

TIA

Steve

Re: N/F Claim confirmation PtII

First one according to Chorley was lost without trace. There were 2 claims for Stirlings that night-your man Schönert claimed one at Aurich at 0207 hrs whilst Ofw Wilhlem Beier claimed another at 0301

W7503 came down at Wieringer-Meer at 0039 hrs due to nightfighter which matches perfectly with Becker's claim

Re: N/F Claim confirmation PtII

Chris,

Thank you for this, Bill Chorley indeed says lost without trace, however that does not rule out Schonert. Many a crew went down in the drink the victim of a night fighter.

Regards
Steve

Re: N/F Claim confirmation PtII

Steve: I am aware of that possibility but Schönert apparently gives a precise-ish location

Re: N/F Claim confirmation PtII

Hi Steve
I have had a look in the Abschussbeteiligungen Hans Richter who was the funker of Oblt Schoenert on 22/6-42. They had no claims on 22/6.
On 23/6-42 at 01:17 they claimed a Short Stirling in Deutche Bucht.
On 23/6-42 at 02:07 they claimed a Wellington in Deutsche Bucht

In the Nonnenmacker file this is recorded:
01:17 Oblt Schoenert II./NJG 2 Wellington NW Baltrum
02:07 Oblt Schoenert II./NJG 2 Stirling N Aurich
Lt Beier I./NJG 1 Wellington. No time or place given.

NJWD I Have:
Schoenert Wellington 18 km NW Terschelling 2.800 m 01:17 57 Sqn Wellington X3758
Schoenert Stirling Engehafe 12 km N Aurich 02:07 218 Stirling N6078
Beier Stirling 03:01. No place given.

Tony Wood have:

Night Phase: 22-23. June 1942

Reichsverteidigung: R.A.F. Bomber Command: EMDEN
23.06.42 Oblt. Rudolf Schoenert 4./NJG 2 Wellington £ 74522: 1½ km. N.W. Georgheil: 2.800 m. 01.17 Film C. 2033/I Anerk: Nr.49
23.06.42 Oblt.Rudolf Schoenert4./NJG 2Stirling£ - 02.07Film C. 2031/I Nr.103568/43

Looking at Chorley BCL 1942. Two Wellington and one Stirling have gone down in the sea.

Re: N/F Claim confirmation PtII

Thanks for the information.

I should have said the raid was on the night of 22/23rd June, take-off time for N6078 was 23.30hrs, zero hour 0115hrs + 24.

All the crew are reporting missing.

Dear Soren,

Have you any details on an enounter on 27/28th June, target Bremen.

Sergeant Falconer was attacked and R9333 HA-F extensively damaged by a night fighter, the instrument panel, turret controls and airframe all were hit, the bomb load was jettisoned at 01.30hrs 3 miles S.E of Makkam.

Any ideas. ?
