8 okt. JG53+JG76

On operation at that date 39 Bf109 of the JG53 engaged P47 Lunéville north, they claimed 8 effectively shot-up , so no real claims, they lost 3 planes shot-down + 3 bellylandings
III.JG76 with 18 Bf109 engaged P47, they claimed 4 shot-down for only one loss.

Who has the conterparts figures ??

Remi

Re: 8 okt. JG53+JG76

Hello Remi,

Here is what I was able to find:
  • it seems that JG53 was involved in two dogfights that day. The first one near Lunéville with a claim of one P47 @ 15:04 by Oblt Hammer of the 6/JG53 (according to Prien, two additional P-47 were claimed by the II/JG53 and Stab/JG53, with no additional details). Thery were in combat with the 367th FS of the 358th FG which claimed, between 15:00 and 15:10 and 8 miles noth-west of Chateau-Salins (near Lunéville), 1 Me-109 shot-down, 1 probable and 1 damaged. MACR does not show any loss.
  • The second dogfight took place apparently near Worms. The JG53 was in combat with P-47s of the 406 FG. 12 P-47 of the 512 FS, which were to attack the Biblis airfield, attacked by surpise 4 Me-109 during landing at about 15:30 and shoot them down, for no losses. 1/Lt. Sanders of 514 FS of the same Group claimed another Me-109 near Biblis at the same time.
  • JG76 was probably in combat with P47 of the 313 FS of the 50th FG which claimed one Me-109 near Freiburg @ 16:55. MACR does not show any loss.
I wonder if you can provide the detailes of the losses suffered by JG53 that day not listed in Tomi message and the one of JG76.

Best Regards
Marco
