Uffz.Müller crash 19.08-44 Lapland

Looking for additional info regarding a Uffz.Müller.
His Bf.109 crashed (100%) on 19th August 1944, according to the text on the back side of a photo. I guess he belonged to JG 5, but I can't find any match in my lists.

TIA Kjell

Re: Uffz.Müller crash 19.08-44 Lapland

There is a Obllt Robert Muller of 5 staffel who went MIA on 17 July-44 in France. And, of course, Rudolf Muller who crash-landed an F-4 in Finland on 21-Aug-42.

Of course if the "crash-landing" did not result in a WIA, MIA, KIA or FSA, we are likely missing a record for this date.

Re: Uffz.Müller crash 19.08-44 Lapland

Hi, Kjell

Assuming the date is correct, the only aircraft reported damaged or destroyed by JG 5 on this date are 4 aircraft from II. Gruppe.

As far as I recall (at work, no references available) the II. Gruppe should be out of Lappland by this time.

Regards,
Andreas B

John & Andreas, thanks for your replies.

This case seems very difficult to solve, I'm afraid. After all, it is not certain he belonged to JG 5. All I have is the name, date and type of aircraft.

regards Kjell
