Potez 637 & Potez 390

Looking for details (Units&Crewmembers) of the loss from:

Potez637A3 No. 36

Potez 390A2 No. 80

Both planes shoot down by Flak/Fighter at the early months of 1940 near the French-German Border close to Saarbrücken. There are a few phots from the crashed planes.

Re: Potez 637 & Potez 390

Pz 637 n° 36 of GR I/52 :
shot down on 24 March 1940 by Ofw Griener of II./JG 52 over Zweibrücken.
A/C crashed in the no man's land, South of Rohrbach.
Pilot: Adj Barbier - slightly wounded, picked up by a French patrol.
Obs: S/Lt Elie Brugerolles - killed by the first burst.
Gunner: Sgt Serge Dumas - mortally wounded.

I don't have a Potez 390 n° 80, but I have a n° 50.

Pz 390 n° 50 of GAO 505
shot up and crash-landed on 21 September 1939 between Niedergailbach and Obergailbach (Moselle, France).
Pilot: S/C Achaintre (safe)
Obs: Cne Léonard (killed)

Re: Potez 637 & Potez 390

Hello!

This Potez 637 crashed between Ormersviler (F) and Brenschelbach (D) in No-mens-land. It crashed on the border between Germany and France.
@ CJE:
Do you have more informations about this crash?

Kind regards

Re: Potez 637 & Potez 390

The pilot who shot down the Potez 637 was Unteroffizier Leo Zaunbrecher. He was shot down over Sussex on the 12.08.1940 and crash-landed his Bf-109E in a corn-field. Do someone have more informations about Leo Zaunbrecher (Time of PoW, after the war,...)?

Schalabeer

The victory on March 24th over the Potez 637 is disputed in German sources.
BOTH Albert Griener and Leo Zaunbrecher filed claims. I cannot state what the official results were, but Barbas in his II./JG 52 book gives them equal credit, while Prien et all in his book gives Zaunbrecher the credit while remarking that Griener also filed a claim. Most probably they shot at the same aeroplane!

Cheers
Stig
