B-29s over Japan

Did any B29's crashland (forced landing) in Japan during the war? I was wondering if the Japanese ever got to evaluate them.

Re: B-29s over Japan

I'm quite sure Japan was not able to fly a captured B-29, if you mean that by "evaluate".

As for crash-landing B-29 leaving wrecks in condition good enough to give a good idea of what they were, I don't know but the link below may help:

http://www.powresearch.jp/en/archive/pilot/index.html

The links inside this page will point to 6 PDF reports listing Allied losses (USN, USAAF and FAA) over Japan (divided in 6 areas) with the fate of the crew.

I have found them yesterday, and have not finished reading, but for many losses there are details.

Hope this helps

Laurent

Re: B-29s over Japan

Excellent information. A little more on finishing of the details of this site and its worth a book. I am also slowly reading through the details. It looks as there weren't any crashlanded B29s during the war over Japan. A few single engine planes I see had crashlanded. I wonder if any B29s forcelanded in Japanese occupied China during the war. I'm still curious what information the Japanese got in their interogations of airmen and plane debree. I also see there are a few books for me tio check out.
