Re: Wreck relic part
Flanges: For rollers around (control) tube. Very small stamped numbers (direct into metal - if there) might indicate type and other details (Baugruppe).

Re: Wreck relic part
Hi,
I agree with Ed, the bearing units (Rollenfuhrungen) kept the control rods (Stossstange) in place whilst allowing them to move back and forth. The circular bearings and their pins are missing from your item. Looking at the shape of your mounting piece it would appear to be from a rear fuselage member. I would say from the style of riveting, jointing, captive nut holder that the piece is definitely German origin but couldn't say which particular type of aircraft as I have found similar on Junkers and Heinkel products - and probably used on others too. If any numbers are evident it would be useful to know them! Regards, David |

Re: Wreck relic part
Hi, thanks Ed and David,
I have not in hand the part; pics from a friend. This was found in Spain, in the Ebro front. In the particular area crashed either a He-51 and a He-111 Could be a firewall element or so? the overlapped panels are not too proper for a skin surface isn't? Regards |

Re: Wreck relic part
Hi,
In that case I would say He111 as from memory the He51 used a different set up. The part is probably from the lower left side of one of the fuselage frames / partition 'walls' e.g. rear of cockpit, either side of bomb bay or above the rear ventral position window, or possibly just in front of the tail unit. Hope this helps! Regards David |
