Possibly one of these:

Staffelkapitän:
Hptm. Arnold Klinkicht ( ? - c.February 1941?) 9/39, 6/40, 8/40
Hptm. Hans von Osterhausen (acting?) ( ? - ? ) 1942

If not, then it may be someone not yet identified.

Re: Aufkl.Gr. 1. (F) 121

Thanks Larry

I have some other names but i am not very sure about them and about the timeperiods they served.

FF. Oblt. Erwin Fischer, FF. Oblt. Waldemar Lutsch, (v.) 03.09.43 mit (7A+LH),
FF. Oblt. Engelbert Betasch, FF. Oblt. Heinrich Osbar, 12.43 FF. Hptm. Muff , Kalamaki

any ideas ?

it is ascairtend, there is a relative ignorance concerning the various Staffel captains.

We schould do something about that, starting a database.

Byron -

1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121

Sonstige Staffelkapitäne:
Hptm. Erwin Fischer (1 April 1942 - 25 February 1943) (with the Staffel since 1939)
Oblt. Friedrich Ruthers (acting) (May 1942 - May 1942) (with the Staffel since at least 1941)
Hptm. Waldemar Lutsch (March 1943 - 4 September 1943) MIA (with the Staffel since 1943)

BETASCH and OSBAR are unknown to me. Are you sure their names are spelled correctly?

MUFF, Eberhard. c.04.43 Oblt., appt Staka 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123. 01.08.43 in 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123, promo to Hptm.

No evidence so far of MUFF being associated with 1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121.

Regarding a data base: Doug Stankey and I have a data base of nearly 30,000 Luftwaffe officers with all that is currently known of their careers. We have all of the Staffelkapitäne, at least as far as we have been able to discover them. Chevron/Ian Allan will probably publish our book on Aufklärungsverbände in 2011. We have two volumes on Sturzkampf- und Schlachtverbände that will appear toward the end of this year and the beginning of next year. Even though you are only interested in the Luftwaffe insofar as it directly pertains to Greece, Crete and the Aegean, you might find out books a worthwhile resource.

deZeng, Henry L. IV and Douglas G. Stankey. Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945: A Reference Source. Volumes 1 (ISBN 10 1 903223 72 5) and Volume 2 (ISBN 10 1 903223 87 3). Hersham (Surrey): Ian Allan Publishing, 2007 and 2008.

Actually, our book "Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe" (in 2 volumes) has been available for over a year through all the usual sources. Please see the review:

I think that you will find the book most revealing.
