Med. loss on 26/27.aug. 1942

The plane carrying the Gen. Von Pohl was lost in med. theatre on 26 or 27. august 1942, any idea of which plane, unit , fate is in cause ??

If this was Gen. Maximilian von Pohl then he at least survived (becoming Kommandierender General der Deutschen Luftwaffe in Italien in 1944). I think there was an SS General von Pohl (or just "Pohl") as well.

(DOB: 15.04.93 in München).

(Omitting most of his career)……

31.07.43 appt Gen.d.Flakartillerie Süd.
04.02.44 appt Gen.d.Lw. in Mittelitalien and Befehlshaber Nahkampfkorps/Lfl. 2.
07.02.44 awarded DKG.
15.06.44 awarded Ritterkreuz.
06.09.44 appt Gen.d.Lw. in Italien.
02.05.45 American POW.
1947 released.
†26.07.51 in Pöcking am Starnberger See.

No mention of having been shot down or what the circumstances were. Sorry.

Many thks, so he could match if he was in the south at that time, nd seems to hv escape in fairly good shape.

From memory he had been in Rome since soon after Italy entered the war. He was posted there as liaison with the Regia Aeronautica, I think.

I thought perhaps Pohl's aircraft might have been from his own Flugbereitschaft, but there is no loss reported for that date.

Flugbereitschaft Italuft

Formation, History and Losses. (Apr 42 - Apr 43)
Formed 1940-41 in Rome.[1]

3 Dec 41: He 111 crashed near Capri due to engine failure, 100%, 2 killed.
Feb 43: based at Littorio airfield along the Tiber in Rome.
2 Jul 43: Do 217F crashed at Bauer (Germany? Austria?) due to engine failure, 100%, 2 killed and 1 injured.
