Rank of Kurt Steiberg I/StG77?

Looking for the rank of this pilot shot down on the 22Aug43. Also maybe some one can tell me what this word is in Russian "лаптежников"? His Stuka was suppose to have been shot down by an Il-2 according to the Russian side but collided with another Ju-87 from the German side of the story.

Rank of Kurt Steiberg I./StG 77?

Hello Nokose

22 August 1943: Ju 87 D-3 (W.Nr. 764) of 1./StG 77 damaged 40% during a collision in the air with a second aircraft which suffered less than 10% damage at Pl.Qu. 5157. Bordfunker Unteroffizier Kurt Steiberg missing after bailing out. The entry also mentions enemy observed.

Horrido!

Leo

Thanks Leo. I wonder if he survived his stay in Russia.

Re: Rank of Kurt Steiberg I/StG77?

Hi,

this word is a colloquialism for Ju 87. Something like slipper-plane (slippers for Ju 87`s undercarriage legs).

Regards

Robert
