Presentation Spitfire

Hello.

I would like to know if it exist's some photographs of Spitfire Mk V with the Presentation name of Fiji I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII (from 603, 609 & 92 Sqn.) ?

I have already the excellent book Gift of War ( but no photos).

Is it possible that the kind of writing and the position were the same between Spitfire and the Typhoon (Fiji V etc...) where it exist's many good photographs?

By advance thank you.

Re: Presentation Spitfire

Hello Many,

I have not seen the pictures that you mention of Spitfire's Mk V with the Presentation name of Fiji I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII.
However from the Air Britain Serial Number Series I have the following -

Fiji I - Wellington - T2884
Fiji II - Whitley - T4266
Fiji III - Spitfire W3118
Fiji IV - Hurricane - BP228
Fiji V - Typhoon EK286
Fiji VI - Typhoon EK287
Fiji VII - Typhoon EK192
Fiji VIII - nothing found so far
Fiji Indian - Typhoon - JP383
Fiji Civil Service - Hurricane - BP444

So there were Spitfires

All the best
Alex

Re: Presentation Spitfire

Hello Chris,
Thank's for the correction, I missed the "G" instead of "J".
They are of course "FIJI"

Re: Presentation Spitfire

Thank you Chris.

It was about:
W3116 / FIJI I (PR-T),
W3179 / FIJI IV (PR-K),
W3117 / FIJI V (PR-?),
W3115 / FIJI VI (PR-?),
W3180 / FIJI VII (PR-?)

Maybe do you have some infos for the missing personal letters ?

Thank you again?

Re: Presentation Spitfire

Hello Chris & Many,

Duplicate Presentation of aircraft ? was this a normal event ?
Or was it something to do with Aircraft type ?
