Focke-Wulf Fw200 lost off Ireland in Feb 1942

Hi All,
I wonder if anyone could provide any information on a Fokke Wulf 200 that was lost off Ireland in Feb 1942 please. Blitz Then & Now book says it was F8+FL and that it was lost on the 13th, but has the entry date as the 15th. Also I have an unidentified Fw200 in the Plymouth area on the 15th that was attacked by Spitfires and am wondering if it is the same aircraft.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Dave.

Re: fokke wulf 200

Dave, this is what I have F8+FL lost on 13-2-42 from an anti-shipping mission to the south of Ireland, the pilot Fw. Kurt Hinze is reported as dead. The rest of the crew were picked up on the 18th by U-587 on its outward voyage (U-587 lost on 27th March with all hands). Later on the 18th the crew were transferred to U-130 on its homeward voyage and landed safe. Have'nt got anything for the 15th,

Regards

Re: fokke wulf 200

Thanks Brian,

This can`t be the aircraft I was thinking of as being attacked on the 15th, you see I have a Liberator shot down off Cornwall on the 15th in error by Spitfires, but the pilots say it was a Fw200 so I wondered if there was one in the area prior to the friendly Lib being attacked, clutching a bit at straws with this one. Thanks again.

Regards
Dave.

There were no FW 200s shot down by Spitfires off the UK or Ireland in WW2
